Satellite News Channels - News at your fingertips with a hint of war mongering?

Over the last decade satellite news channels have enabled everyone to be totally up-to-date with world news, but does this have a negative effect on the outcome? lets take the recent riots in Egypt, where before this could have taken days if not weeks for the news to filter around the world & by the time they got a reporter there the problem could have been resolved.

I think the argument has two sides, because now governments have to tow the line (in some cases not) where news reporting is on the mark & we watch whats going on in real time. Certain countries like Iran, North Korea, Burma etc do not allow or have restricted access not allowing 'free reporting' therefore dealing with their internal problems 'inhouse' be it legally or illegally, all depending on your point of view.

So my question being....if something happens at say 12 noon in New York that enrages some people in the Middle East, the news is there within seconds & may cause unrest in certain parts of the world, therefore is this responsible journalism?

In my opinion it's the media age & this does have a negative effect on certain world affairs, but we are now a world of people who want to be kept up-to-date instantly with what's going on....so be it.
